In an era where we are constantly working yet starved of meaning, Sonder Theatre Collective steps onto Berlin’s experimental theatre stage with its debut production, Toasted - a visceral, musical, and poetic exploration of modern labour, value, and resistance.
Inspired by the Brothers Grimm’s Town Musicians of Bremen, Toasted reimagines the folk tale as a bold allegory for 21st-century working life. Here, the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster are no longer bound to their old roles - they’ve drifted beyond the structures that once defined them. As they journey together, they search not for a town, but for a rhythm of their own - in a society where work has lost its meaning, yet performance still dictates survival.
