The ballroom will take the spotlight for a featured segment of the night, filling the space with performance, runway magic, and unforgettable energy as part of a full night of celebration.    

Expect the usual Dolls on the Block vibes: music, dancing, community, chaos, connection, and the party atmosphere you know and love. Come to vogue, come to watch, come to dance, come to socialize — or just come for a night with the gworls. Whether you're walking a category or simply walking into the function, this is a full party experience from start to finish.

👉 COS'È LA BALLROOM?

Ballroom è uno spazio creato dalle donne trans nere e latinx negli anni Sessanta ad Harlem. È nato come risposta diretta al razzismo sistematico presente nei concorsi drag dell'epoca. Si configura come uno spazio in cui le persone BiPOC (nere, indigene e persone di colore) della comunità LGBTQIA+ possono gareggiare in diverse categorie, come bellezza, moda e performance.

Se non condividi l’esperienza intersezionale di una persona trans* o queer BiPOC, entra in questo spazio con il necessario rispetto e con spirito di auto-riflessione. Chiunque sia interessato a partecipare alla scena deve essere disposto ad ascoltare, imparare e impegnarsi per mantenere lo spazio il più sicuro possibile.

👉 WHAT IS BALLROOM?

Ballroom is a space created by black and latinx Trans women in the 1960s in Harlem. It was a direct response to the systematic racism present in the drag pageants of those times. It is built as a Space for BiPOC LGBT+ people to compete in different categories like beauty, fashion and performance. 

If you do not share the intersectional experience of a BiPOC trans* or queer person, please enter the space with the necessary respect and self-reflect. Everyone interested to join the scene should be eager to listen, learn and engage to keep the space as safe as possible.

Doll$ on the Block prioritises the creation of the safest possible space. 
Discrimination and violence of any kind will not be tolerated. Racism, homophobia, lesbophobia, biphobia, transphobia, misgendering, misogyny, sexism or ableism will not be accepted. A team of volunteers will be available throughout the night for any needs.
