After a body is altered permanently, how does one feel at home? Whose body is being inhabited? How does one relate to this new self?

First Look is a durational live performance centered on bodily transformation, vulnerability, sexuality, body dysmorphia, self exposure, public witnessing, and endurance.

Following a major spinal fusion surgery, the body artist aims to reclaim agency over her body through exposure.

You may enter. You may stay. You may leave.

The work follows an earlier performance titledThe Last Look, created before the artist underwent major spinal fusion surgery. In that earlier piece, the artist stood nude in a private room before mirrors, observing a body that would soon be permanently altered through surgery. The performance continued until physical collapse.

Since then, the artist has undergone the surgery. The body has changed permanently.The First Lookmarks the second sequence of this process. Where mirrors were once used for private observation, the public now becomes the mirror.

Rules

The artist stands nude within a marked circular zone in the center of the room.The artist remains silent. The artist observes the audience and their reactions. The audience may observe, move through the space, remain present, or leave. Audience may not cross the boundary. Artist remains within the boundary. The work ends only when the artist consciously steps outside the marked circle.

Intention

Bodily authorship after surgery. Scars and altered anatomy. Public reaction to the artist’s body. Reclaiming agency through exposure.

By entering this space, you confirm and agree to the following:

2. You understand this event contains non-sexual artistic nudity as part of a contemporary

performance work. This is not an erotic or sexual event.

3. Entry is entirely voluntary.

4. You may leave at any time.

5. You agree to respectful conduct toward staff, audience, and artist. Harassments, threats or

violent behaviour is not allowed.

6. You cannot touch the artist or cross the marked line surrounding the artist.

7. You cannot take photos or videos on personal devices.

8. You understand official photo/video documentation is present and your presence may be

captured.

10. Violation of the points mentioned above may result in removal without discussion.
