Day Trip Stoos Ridge Hike - Klingenstock to Fronalpstock

Ever wanted to experience one of the most beautiful and iconic hikes in Switzerland? 🏔️ Join us for an unforgettable day trip to Stoos, where we’ll hike the spectacular Stoos Ridge Trail from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock. The trail offers incredible panoramic views of the Swiss Alps, Lake Lucerne, and the surrounding mountains.

The hike is approximately 4.4 km and takes around 2–2.5 hours to complete. We’ll take the funicular and chairlift up to the starting point at Klingenstock, hike along the ridge to Fronalpstock, and then have time to enjoy the views, eat lunch, and relax at the top. You can bring your own lunch or enjoy a meal at the restaurant.

This is a moderate hike with uneven terrain, stairs, and steep slopes on one side of the trail. Because some sections are exposed, the hike is recommended for people who are comfortable with heights. Good hiking shoes are strongly recommended.

⏰ When: 26.09.2026 🕕 We meet at 06:15 am and will be back in Fribourg at 19:26 pm.

📍 Meeting Point: Inside Fribourg Train Station, by Burger King.

🚂 The train to Schwyz departs from platform 3 at 06:33, so please make sure to arrive in good time.

🎒 What to bring: Good hiking shoes, comfortable clothes, water, and lunch. You can bring your own lunch, or you can buy food at the restaurant at Fronalpstock. Don’t forget a jacket; the weather can be cooler at the top in September.

🗻 Hike information: Moderate difficulty. Distance of 4.4 km with a duration of approximately 2-2.5 hours. Highest point: 1900 m.

⚠️ Please be on time: The connection back to Fribourg leaves at 16:29. Please make sure to return to the station on time. ESN Fribourg does not take responsibility for participants who miss the train or other transport connections to or from the event. (Event tickets will be checked by the organiser).
