As part of a joint initiative by Pro Helvetia and the Federal Office of Culture, Prof. Dr. Jan-Erik Baars invites participants to a workshop on the strategic value of design in business. Drawing on the real-world experiences of an established company, participants will discuss how design capability can foster innovation, competitiveness, and transformation. The workshop combines presentations, discussion, and collaborative reflection.
Jan-Erik Baars (1964) is an internationally recognized expert in strategic design and a professor of design management at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Business. He studied industrial design at the University of Wuppertal and began his career in 1991 at Philips in Eindhoven, where he designed medical systems, lighting, and consumer electronics. From 2009 to 2011, he led Design Management at Deutsche Telekom and played a key role in integrating design into the company’s strategy. He has been an independent strategy consultant since 2011.
