Yin & Sound – A Yin Yoga Special with Gentle Sounds
It is time. Winter is arriving.
Nature withdraws beneath the surface, conserving energy for the renewal to come. The days are short, the air still, and this stillness invites us to listen more deeply, to the body, the breath, and the spaces in between.
With this evening, our intention is to practice resting, just as we practice movement, vinyasa, or any other discipline. Rest, too, is a skill that needs to be remembered and cultivated. In our fast-paced world, we often forget how to truly rest; and when we do, it can appear passive. Yet real rest is active and intentional, a time when the body restores, the mind softens, and subtle processes of renewal unfold beneath the surface. This practice of rest aligns deeply with the season of winter, when nature itself slows down and invites us to do the same.
In Yin Yoga, winter corresponds to the Water element in Traditional Chinese Medicine, connected to the kidneys and the bladder. Through long-held postures and gentle sound, we nourish our inner reserves, supporting balance and resilience during the colder months.

As we settle into the rhythm of this season, we are reminded that stillness is restoration, not stagnation. In embracing rest, we create space for clarity, strength, and the quiet promise of new beginnings.
In this special evening class, we combine the grounding practice of Yin Yoga with the transformative power of a Soundbath.
Yin Yoga is a meditative practice where poses are held for several minutes. This stillness allows the body to gently stretch the connective tissues and fascia, while the mind learns to soften and surrender. It is an invitation to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with your inner roots.
Sound Healing will accompany the practice through gentle vibrations of instruments such as singing bowls and tuning forks (Otto Tuners). These frequencies support relaxation, balance, and harmony on a subtle level. Please note: we will not place therapy bowls directly on the body. The sounds will resonate around you, creating a nourishing atmosphere for deep release.
If you are pregnant or have any health conditions or ailments, please let us know in advance so we can support you safely and appropriately.
