BERLIN GLOBAL in 60 minutes in English

Sunday, 29 November 2026, 11:00 - 12:00

Humboldt Forum, Schloßplatz, 10178 Berlin

Description

Discover BERLIN GLOBAL at the Humboldt Forum and experience Berlin from new perspectives. Immersive installations, multimedia displays, and compelling stories guide visitors through seven unique themed worlds. Each section features extraordinary objects, surprising insights, and interactive experiences that bring the history and present-day life of Germany’s capital to life.

At the heart of the exhibition stands a rusty, multi-ton vault door. This imposing object, measuring more than two metres in height, tells a story of expropriation and persecution while also symbolising Berlin’s vibrant club and party culture of the 1990s. It is equally worth looking up: original light fixtures from the Palace of the Republic offer fascinating insights into leisure and entertainment in East Berlin around 40 years ago.

This guided tour reveals Berlin as a city shaped by history and connected to the world. Spin the interactive “Wheel of History”, dance inside a walk-in disco ball, or use the telescopes at the Humboldt Forum windows to explore the remarkable history of the site. Through dialogue and interaction, the tour connects Berlin’s past, present, and global influence in an engaging and memorable way.

Our tip: Find good stories in good books and catalogues. Two new interesting books came out in autumn: Contemporary Art at the Humboldt Forum and The Humboldt Brothers. Stories from the Present, as always in a German and an English edition. Contemporary Art in the Humboldt Forum is devoted in impressive photographs and inspiring text to the works of art on the building, but also to selected works of art on the premises of the Ethnological Museum, the Museum of Asian Art and BERLIN GLOBAL. Deutscher Kunstverlag, hardcover, 192 pages, 34.- Euro. The Humboldt Brothers. Stories from the Present links the life and work of Wilhelm and Alexander von Humboldt with the programme of our museum. The book is based on the Humboldt exhibition in the Staircase and the Passage and continues it in an associative way. Prestel Verlag, softcover, 128 pages, 12.50 euros. Therefore, also visit the shop at the Humboldt Forum, or order online.
