Presented by the Foul Owls
At a police station in Milan bedlam ensues after an anarchist falls out of a window – accidentally, of course. As the police officers scramble to figure out which version of events will make them look least guilty, the Madman appears. A habitual con man whose highspeed monologues confuse even the best interrogators, the Madman makes it his mission to find out what really happened in the case of the anarchist, with the help of his favourite tools: disguises! In doing so, he exposes the rot at the core of post-war Italian institutions with wit and humour.
Accidental Death of an Anarchist is a slapstick comedy with a serious core in which the only way to stay sane is to go crazy. How can the public institutions on which we all depend be held accountable? This question is as urgent now as it was in the 1970s.
