Race Format
The Stabio Criterium takes place on a closed circuit in the industrial area of Stabio, Switzerland.
Qualifying Heats
The event begins with two qualifying heats, each covering 15 km (9 laps).
- The top 12 riders from each qualifying heat automatically advance to the A Final.
- The 13th rider from the fastest qualifying heat also qualifies, bringing the total number of finalists to 25 riders.
To ensure rider safety, a maximum of 25 riders are allowed on the circuit at the same time. The event has a maximum field of 50 participants.
A Final – Points Race
The A Final consists of 30 laps (50 km) and is contested as a points race.
Intermediate Sprints
An intermediate sprint takes place every 10 laps. The bell is rung one lap before each sprint.
Points are awarded to the first five riders across the line:
- 🥇 1st – 10 points
- 🥈 2nd – 8 points
- 🥉 3rd – 6 points
- 4th – 4 points
- 5th – 2 points
Lap Points
On every non-sprint lap, the first two riders across the finish line score:
- 1st – 2 points
- 2nd – 1 point
Gaining or Losing a Lap
- A rider who laps the main field is awarded 20 bonus points.
- A rider who is lapped by the main field receives a 20-point penalty.
Winner
The rider with the highest total number of points at the end of the race is declared the winner.
