Human Scent and Dating: An Experiment and Dating Event in ZH

The longer version for the brave ones who enjoy a few more paragraphs:
I recently came across some studies suggesting that women may prefer the natural scent of men they also find physically attractive. I found the idea fascinating and started wondering: does something like this also show up in real life, outside of super-controlled scientific experiments?

To satisfy my curiosity and do something fun, a few friends and I organised a first experiment a few months ago. We didn't make any huge scientific discoveries (if anything, we discovered that the "scientific" part is not what interests us the most ahhah), but we noticed how much this kind of experiment can bring people together and how fun it was! That's why we are reproposing it on Wednesday, 26 August, in Zurich from 19:00 to 21:30 in a slightly different form.

Here's how it works: you'll wear a T-shirt for the two nights before the experiment, without using deodorant (we'll send you a few additional guidelines beforehand). We know, we know... but no worries... you are not supposed to smell like flowers anyway hihi. Then you'll bring the T-shirt to the experiment, where everyone will anonymously smell each other's shirts. We'll compare these results with confidential ratings of physical attraction to explore whether a correlation exists between liking someone’s smell and finding them physically attractive.

We will also have some fun, curated speed dating at the end of the experiment, to facilitate one-to-one connections and an even bigger apéro... sooo come hungry! And at the end, for your own curiosity, we can personally disclose to you what rating you gave to the smell of the people you would like to get to know better :). If two participants happen to find each other interesting and both are open to it, I will later reach out by email and exchange numbers. Fingers crossed!

Practical information:
📍 Location: private house close to Ueberlandpark (we'll disclose the address only to participants as it is the house of one of us)
🕒 When: 26 August 2026, from 7:00 pm until around 9:30 pm
💰 Price: 15 CHF per person (activities + homemade aperitivo included).

⏳ Places are limited and registrations will close on August 24 evening.

Ps. For practicality, this event is thought for people aged 18 - 35 and interested in the opposite gender. We will organise in the future also events open to all sexual orientations and age groups.
